About PMK Development
A father-son construction outfit in Pasadena.
One tight crew that prices the job, pulls the permits, and builds it, from approved plans to final walkthrough.
Redwillow, addition & renovation, La Cañada Flintridge
Paul Kim started PMK Development in Pasadena in 2015, after 25-plus years across construction, real estate development, and business operations. What he built wasn't a large outfit, it's a tight, father-son operation that prices the job, pulls the permits, and builds it with one crew from approved plans to final walkthrough. A decade and 300-plus residential projects later, that's still the whole model.

Paul Kim
Founder & Owner
Paul founded PMK in 2015 with more than 25 years across construction, real estate development, and business operations, including years at Hyundai in corporate operations and project coordination, on top of an economics background. That mix is why PMK estimates and schedules the way it does: the person who priced the job understands both the building and the business of it.
Today Paul is building PMK's manufacturing and supply side, the vertically integrated backbone behind the construction work, while guiding the next generation of the firm's leadership.

Jonathan Kim
Managing Principal
Jonathan came to construction from ArtCenter College of Design, where he studied film, then joined a PMK crew on his first day and learned the work from the field up. Six years later he runs project operations across the portfolio: construction management, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, and quality control.
He's the call clients make when they want a straight answer, named directly in review after review, including on jobs that wrapped years ago.
It's still a two-person leadership team, not a franchise or a call center handing off to whichever crew is free. Paul and Jonathan are the two people who know every job PMK has open at any given time.
The crew on site

Most clients come to PMK with plans already drawn by their architect. From there, one team owns everything: the office that prices the drawings is the crew that pulls the permits and frames the job, so nothing gets lost between the plan and the build. Don't have an architect yet? We'll refer you to ones we've built with, and work alongside them through construction.
In practice that covers kitchens, bathrooms, room additions, ADUs, and full residential remodels, the range of work behind PMK's 300-plus completed projects, priced and scheduled by the same office that shows up to build it.
Licensed and Verifiable
PMK Development, Inc. holds California Contractors State License Board General Building License #1008209, issued to Paul Hojin Kim. Anyone can check the license status, bond, and insurance directly on the CSLB's own site. It takes under a minute and shows classification, bond status, and any disciplinary history. Worth doing before you sign with any contractor, PMK included.

PMK is based in Pasadena and works across Greater Los Angeles and Orange County, including Pasadena, South Pasadena, La Cañada Flintridge, Altadena, and Burbank. The office is at 1055 E Colorado Blvd #500, Pasadena, CA 91106.
Being local means someone from PMK can usually walk a property the same week you call, and the team already knows the permitting offices it will be working with across the area.

Two things matter on a PMK job more than anything else. What's on the plans is what we deliver: the plans a client approves are the plans that get built, not a starting point for change orders mid-project. And jobsite discipline: a clean site, a consistent crew, a schedule a family can actually plan its own life around.
Whether that holds up isn't something to take PMK's word for. PMK currently holds a 5.0 rating on Google, and one client, Sung K., left this review three years after their remodel wrapped, long after the invoice was paid:
“Now it's been 3rd year of remodel was done, Jonathan reached out to me for the minor repairs… That's a great customer service after all these years.”
